Marcoleta was a member of the House of Representatives from 2004 to 2013 under the Alagad party list. He is a House deputy speaker, serving since 2019.
He was the representative who made the motion to slash the budget of the Commission on Human Rights to only P1,000 in 2017.
On April 21, 2022, Marcoleta filed his withdrawal from the senatorial race, pointing to his poor showing in the surveys. Since his name is already on the printed ballots, all votes cast for him will be considered stray and will not be counted, said the Commission on Elections.
